Summer with every bite.

As I break up another flake of grass hay into each of the bunny cages, the smell of fresh hay permeates the entire coop. It's the aroma of summer. For a short time, I am transported back to July when this hay was harvested. I can feel warm breezes on my face and the sun on my back.
Hmmmm. Summer. Living in the present.

  1. I feel the same way you do about hay. Every time I step in the hay barn to get hay for my goats, it just takes me back to summer. I love that about hay. I plan on getting some meat rabbits soon, between now and spring. I think I would like some New Zealand or a Californian New Zealand cross.

  2. I don't really appreciate the aroma of hay as much any other time of the year like deep winter. It piques my memory of summer yet brings out the yearning of spring. Weird.

    Thanks for reading.
    (It's fun, huh?)
